Artist's Comments
I was watching The Phantom Tollbooth earlier today. It's a story that I remember reading in the 5th grade, and when i saw that there was a movie adaptation (from the 70's) I decided to watch it in installments on YouTube.
This is how I came to my decision to do a photo-manipulation about "The Castle in the Air." It's a place mentioned in the story, although it was a lot darker in the book. I wanted something more light and dreamy. In addition, I wanted to use some of the fantastic stock from *faestock with this gorgeous model and her black dress that I covet and wish I owned for myself! (Their model stock is brilliant!) Here is my rendition. I hope you all like it. Critique and comments would be appreciated. I'm still new to photo-maniupulation so I have been going over tutorials and whatnot in hopes of improving my work. If this goes on I'm surely gonna end up dead...
I'm not sure whether or not the lack of background appeals to me or not. Visually it works excellently, but 'semantically' - in the logic of the picture - it seems like there should be something there (like the ground).
